Winning Grand Champion Doe at last weekend’s Southeastern Oklahoma Livestock Show was McCrae Walden. The Southern Oklahoma Expo is a Youth Livestock Show hosted in Coalgate during the secnd week of January. Twenty-three counties with 117 FFA Chapters are eligible to show at the Southern Oklahoma Expo.

Four Allen Middle School students and one Junior High student made the 2022 East Central University’s All-District Honor Band. They performed with students from across the area this past Saturday, January 8 , in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center, Ataloa Theatre, on the ECU campus. Pictured, left to right, and the position they earned in the band are Brailee Davis, Middle School 2 Chair Baritone; Ely O’Daniel, Middle School 9 Chair Trombone; Blake Campbell, Junior High 5 Chair Trumpet; Bobbie Chapman, Middle School 4 Chair Tuba; and Kyra Collings, Middle School 2 Chair Horn.

After being closed three days last week, plus this past Monday (as a planned day to observe MLK Day), Allen Schools resumed classed Tuesday. As of press time 89 students and 5 staff members were still out. Allen’s total enrollment is approximately 485 with over 60 employees.
