Benjamine Jackson Roberson (Jack Roberson)
Benjamine Jackson Roberson (Jack Roberson) passed away peacefully at his home in Portland, Texas on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 97.
Jack was born on March 6, 1927 in Graysonia, Arkansas to Harvey B. Roberson and Bertha (Whitfield) Roberson. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Allen, Oklahoma where Jack was raised with his two brothers, Harvey Jr. and James (Jim). When Jack was17 years old he joined the United States Navy during WWII and returned home two years later where he would finish and graduate from Allen High School.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Muriel Lee McCormick, daughter of Murray Dee McCormick and Ethel Gilmore McCormick of Allen, Oklahoma, on June 20, 1947. They would later have two daughters, Paula and Judy.
Jack worked at the local refinery in Allen, which would later bring him to Corpus Christi, Texas to work for Suntide Refinery later known as Koch Refinery. Jack and Muriel would raise their family in South Texas. In the late 1960s, his work would take him to Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa to build and start up a new refinery, where he and Muriel would live for 5 years until returning to the U.S. Jack retired from Koch Refinery in 1987 after 43 years with the company and remained in the Corpus Christi area with his family and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife of 77 years, Muriel, and two daughters, Paula Jurica (Danny) of Portland, Texas and Judy Roberson of Portland, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer McWilliams of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kelli Walker (David) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cory Jurica (Laura) of Davenport, Florida, Devonne Jurica of Davenport, Florida, and Amanda Jurica of Portland, Texas; and great-grandson Jackson Bolado of Corpus Christi, Texas.
