Charles Kelley Passes Away
Charles David Kelley passed from this life in the early hours of November 3, 2024, at the Seminole Retirement Center, in Seminole, Oklahoma, where he had resided for the past four years.
He was born in Ada, Oklahoma on December 10, 1946, to Hurley and Mabel Kelley. He graduated from Allen High School in 1964 as a star football player. He married Betty Myers in 1968. They settled in Byng, Oklahoma, and had two children, Dana Kay Kelley and Bryan Keith Kelley.
David worked in the maintenance department of Brockway Glass Co. for several years until the family moved to Clark Air Base, Philippines, in 1987. They later moved to Wuerzburg Army Base, Germany, where David worked in the maintenance department for the BX. His last employment before retiring was for Pottsboro Public Schools, Pottsboro, Texas.
David’s greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. There is nothing he would not do for them. Once retired, he moved back to Ada to be closer to his family. David was an avid fisherman and loved nothing more than to share stories of his fishing exploits with anyone who would listen. He also liked to hunt, play dominoes, and tinker in his wood shop.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Betty Leggiero; his daughter, Dana; one sister, Ollie Roberts; two grandchildren, Michael Kelley and wife Christian, and Kyle Kelley and fiancée Destiny Villarreal; and three great-grandchildren, Sarinna, Anacia, and Ezequiel Kelley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hershel, Robert, and Danny Kelley; and his son, Bryan Kelley.
A memorial service will be held at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis, Oklahoma on Thursday, November 7th at 1 p.m.
