Memorial Service Friday for Joe Hudson
Memorial services for Larry Joe Hudson, 69, of Allen are 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 19th , at the Allen Church of Christ, Danny Huntsman, Mark Legg, Corey Johnson and Danny Stewart will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service until 5:00 p.m.
Mr. Hudson passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, at a Shawnee hospital. He was born September 13, 1949 at Eugene, Oregon to Cecil Haskell and Gladys Ella Lynch Hudson. He graduated from Tupelo High School. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and two Master’s Degrees from East Central University.
He married Tandy R. Cartwright on August 9, 1980. Mr. Hudson taught and coached at Allen Junior High and High School. He coached football, basketball and baseball. He was selected as “Teacher of the Week” and an “Outstanding Man of America”. Mr. Hudson was a member of the Oklahoma Educator’s Association, the Oklahoma Coaches Association, a member of the Allen Church of Christ, and a member of the Lost Cherokee Tribe. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mr. Hudson also enjoyed hunting, fi shing, golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife Tandy, of the home; a sister, Glenda Lillard of Ada; his father-in-law, Richard Cartwright and his wife Mary Lou of Oklahoma City; two brothers-in-law, Scott Cartwright of Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas Bradford and wife Jenny of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Reed; two infant brothers; and two brothers-in-law, Stan Lillard and Mark Allen Cartwright.
