Memorial Service for Janet Pitmon Scheduled for April 12

Janet Kay (Harris) Pitmon, 59, of Allen, Oklahoma, passed away in Oklahoma City on March 26, 2025. The daughter of Jerome Luther Harris and Wanda Faye (Smoot) Harris, Janet was born on September 9, 1965 in Oklahoma City.
Janet graduated from Bethany Christian Academy and attended Midwest Christian College. While at Midwest, Janet met Tina Pitmon who set her up on a blind date with her brother, Pepper. Janet and Pepper were married on September 21, 1985. After thirteen years of marriage, Janet and Pepper were blessed to adopt their newborn son, Jarod. Janet loved being a mother and homemaker.
Janet, Pepper and Jarod moved from the Bethany/OKC area to Allen eight and half years ago and have loved making their home there. For the last year, Janet has driven her golf cart into town, sat on a bench, and held a sign that said, “Can I pray for you?” Above everything, Janet loved the Lord with all her heart and cared for people.
Janet was a phenomenal gardener. While living in Bethany, she received the Yard of the Month award. After moving to Allen, she transformed the yard and garden and would give away much of what she grew. The family said she would often have people stop and ask who she used for landscaping and would want to hire her.
Janet also enjoyed reading and loved vacations with her family. She especially liked the beaches and Colorado. The sudden death of Janet will leave a void in her family and all who knew her.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Pat Pitmon; and brotherin- law, Wesley Pitmon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Pepper Pitmon, and son, Jarod Pitmon, both of Allen; sister, Queta Hopper and husband, Frank, of Oklahoma City; fatherin- law, Gene Pitmon of Blanchard; sistersin- law, Tina Ediger and husband Marc of Oklahoma City, and Stacey Pitmon of Blanchard; brotherin- law, Jimmy Pitmon and wife Sharon of Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.
