Service held for Bob Carwile
Robert “Bob” E. Carwile passed away in his home on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 76 years of age.
In 1948, he was born to Hugh E. and Nancy Carwile of Pamplin, Virginia. He grew up working the family dairy farm with his siblings: Donna (deceased), Steve, Gerald (Debbie), Edna (Bill, deceased), and Jeanne.
Fresh out of high school he joined the US Air Force to serve his country. He became a decorated war hero earning nine air medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross, flying 109 missions during the Vietnam War. He was later a leader in Pointman Ministries, helping other veterans find hope after coming home.
After re-enlisting, he was stationed at the Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi where he met his wife, Linda. They were married for 49½ years and together they raised Jason, Katherine, Elliott, Robert B. (Lisa), and Sean. They had many adventures through mountain highs and valley lows.
Bob lived a life of conviction, he strove to care for the widow and anyone else in need around him. He loved to hear from and send hugs to his grandchildren, Eiren, Ceile, Paulie, Rivkah, Zimrah, Hazak, Elishema, Harmony and Ella.
His body was laid to rest in the Carwile Family Cemetery in Gerty, Oklahoma. Along with a 21 Gun Salute, some of his grandchildren offered up a “21 Slingshot Salute” to honor their Pop.
Bob Carwile will be forever remembered as a Cowboy, he loved his horse “Yank”, his dog “Ally”, and his farm. He was a Man of Faith and never failed to share his beliefs with anyone he came in contact with. He was a Beloved Husband and Father, a Dear Brother, a Good Neighbor, a Cherished Pop, a Cantankerous Son-in-Law, and will be missed by us all.
