Joe Edward Cantrell passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025 at this home in Atwood, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

Joe was born September 5, 1946 in Ada, Oklahoma to Lawrence Edward Cantrell and Ivie Muriel (Herrin) Cantrell. He graduated from Byng High School. Joe attended Connors State and received his Associate Degree. Joe retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. After retirement, he was an Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent and worked for the Able Commission.

Joe enjoyed cutting horses, bred and trained cutting and barrel horses. He loved spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jim Ed Cantrell; and siblings Retha Robbins, Pokey Deaton and Louann McVay.

He is survived by his wife Pamela Cantrell of the home; children Stacy Little and husband Bob of Nowata, and Muriel Cantrell of Edmond; four grandchildren Amanda, Stacy, Emily, and Ivie; and one great- grandchild, Logan. Joe is survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22nd, at Atwood Nazarene Church in Atwood, Oklahoma with Pastor Larry McDaniel officiating and Dick Wilkerson assisting.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
