Service Friday for Janett Britt

Funeral services for Janett Lucille Britt were held 2:00 PM, Friday, March 1st , at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur with Pastors Glen Kersey and Dick Terry officiating. Interment followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Janett was born September 3, 1935 in Mesquite, Texas to the late Gipp and Ruby (Blaylock) Reynolds. She died Sunday, February 24, 2019 in Sulphur, at the age of 83. Janett and Buddy Britt were married on November 28, 1952 in Ardmore. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2017.

Janett grew up in the Prairie View area. She attended school in Stratford until the second half of her senior year, when she transferred to Sulphur High School, graduating in May 1953. Throughout their 64 years of marriage, Buddy and Janett made their home in Sulphur until 1973, when they began traveling and moving often with OG&E. In 1978, they settled in Calvin, where they owned and operated the Calvin Quick Stop for several years.

Janett was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She had an unwavering love for her family and cherished every minute she had with them. Although she loved her children immensely, her grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She spoiled each of them in their own special way. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, sewing and reading. Janett was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Calvin.

Survivors include one daughter, Evone Brown and husband Don of Sulphur; one son, Sam Britt and wife Robin of Norman; one granddaughter, Kendra Mewhorter and husband Adam of Moore; four grandsons, Matthew Britt and wife Danelle of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Shane Brown and wife Tisha of Sulphur, Casey Brown and wife Tracy of Sulphur and Corey Brown and wife Jaime of Sulphur; twelve great-grandchildren, Farmer Britt, Religion Britt, Chandler Mewhorter, Lydia Mewhorter, Dillon Brown, Morgan Brown, Caitlyn Brown, Jessica Burke, Brittany Mensch, Miranda McCarville, Alyvea Brown and Kade Lewis; six great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Kersey and husband Bill of Paris, Texas and Margie Loyd of Decatur, Texas.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janett was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Reynolds, a brother-in-law, Sonny Loyd, and two nephews, Paul Kersey and Larry Loyd.

Serving as pallbearers were Shane Brown, Matthew Britt, Casey Brown, Corey Brown, Adam Mewhorter and Logan Tierce. Honorary bearers were Bo Wylie, Frank Foster, Ronnie Kesler, Dewayne Price and Bennie McGill.
