Rites held for William Kennedy

William Floyd Kennedy, age 90, of Raytown, Missouri, went to his heavenly home Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Homestead of Augusta in Augusta, Kansas.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri 64133. Internment and military rites will immediately follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Floyd, as family and friends knew him, was born August 15, 1928 in Stonewall, Oklahoma, the son of Charles C. and Letha (Greason) Kennedy. Soon afterward the family moved to Allen, Oklahoma where he grew up with his brother and five sisters. His father, Charlie (Pinky), was a well-known barber in Allen. Floyd graduated from Allen High School before entering the service. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and attained the rank of Sergeant. Floyd’s service time was spent as a medic in a hospital in Alaska.

Floyd had retired from Pittman Manufacturing where he worked as an assembler. He was a member of the VFW Chapter 1829 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended the Southview Baptist Church in Raytown, Missouri.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Nona and second wife, Rosemary.

He is survived by three nephews, Harold Erwin (wife, Beverly), Robert Hudgins and Jim Erwin; and niece Judy Young (husband, Bob). He is also survived by step-daughters Debbie Frost (husband, Ken) and Stephanie Whalen (husband, Joe); step-son Gary Jacks; step-granddaughter Mandy Pittman (husband, Jason); and step-great-grandchildren, Chance, Spencer, and Logan. He is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews. Floyd is also survived by his best friend, Spotty.
