Billy Kibby Passes Away

Billy Wayne Kibby passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at the age of 78 years.

Bill was the son of John D. Kibby Jr. and Addie (Hulsey) Kibby, born on January 13, 1942, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He was brought up in the Holdenville, Wetumka, Yeager, and Fairview communities, and graduated Moss High School with the Class of 1961. He joined the U.S. Army National Guard on June 4, 1963 and served for thirty-four years. He married Terry Lee Leader on March 27, 1964, in Ragtown, Oklahoma. He and Terri then moved to Oklahoma City and to Pawnee before moving back to Ragtown in 1973, where they’ve made their home for the past 47 years.

Some of Bill’s favorite things were Texas Ranger baseball, collecting toy tractors, and raising show pigs. He loved eating, visiting, and talking. More than anything, he loved having his family close. Whenever his health permitted, he attended Texas Banner Church of God.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Charity Kibby; his parents, John and Addie Kibby; two greatgrandsons, Andy Joe Kibby and Drew Jaxon Kibby; and one sister, Linda Burkhead.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Terry, of the home; two children, Wayne Kibby (Pam) of Wetumka, and Angela Fearnow (R. C.), of the home; four grandchildren, Delbert Kibby (Amy Lemmings), Rebecca Kibby (Michael Pumphrey), all of Wetumka, and Heather Tong and Felicia Sorrell, both of Collinsville; six great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jessie, Hunter, Korina, Jordan and Carson; three sisters, Carol Weber (Eugene) of Anadarko, Donna Hamilton (James) of Anadarko, and Jo Vaughn Davis (David) of Verden; one brother, Jerry Kibby (Elaine) of Claremore; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 13 ^th , 2:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and Bill was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery with military honors by the Seminole Nation Honor Guard. Rev. Troy Taylor and Rev. Abraham Gomez were the officiating ministers. Pallbearers were Wayne Kibby, Delbert Kibby, Landon Davis, Gene Weber, Jerry Weber, and Shawn Kibby. Honorary pallbearers were the 120 ^th Engineers.
