Kenneth Ray ‘Kenny’ Storts passed away at his home in Gerty, Oklahoma on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the age of 69 years.
Kenny was the son of Joseph Jesse ‘Jay’ Storts and Artie Mae (Hill) Storts, born on March 24, 1952, in Wetumka, Oklahoma. He was brought up, along with his eight siblings, in the Yeager/Holdenville area, by his mom, Artie, and his stepfather, Garland “Pop” Carter. He graduated Holdenville High School with the Class of 1970. He married Marta Lu Hughey at First Baptist Church in Holdenville on December 17, 1971. They made their home for many years in Broken Arrow, where Kenny worked for Ford Motor Company’s glass plant in Tulsa, retiring after thirty-five years. In 2010 they returned to Holdenville and lived there until moving to Gerty, their home for the past 2-1/2 years.
Kenny was extremely intelligent and able to figure out how to do anything he set out to do. He enjoyed being productive and was always working, building and repairing things. He was cheerful and kind, one of those people loved by all who knew him. He was thoughtful and generous, and loved helping people. He was a member of the Holdenville First Assembly of God Church, where he served for several years as secretary/ treasurer, and always as the on-call maintenance guy. He spent a lot of his time taking care of the elderly, both his fellow church members and others, repairing homes and doing random odd jobs at no charge. He especially loved his family, he was deeply loved in return, and he will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jay Storts and Artie Carter, and his stepfather, Garland “Pop” Carter; two brothers, Lonnie Carter and Jim Carter.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Marta, of the home; his daughter, Amy Storts of Houston, Texas, and his son, Daniel Storts and wife Sarah, of Coweta; grandson Jacob Storts and granddaughter Dalton Storts, both of Claremore; siblings: G. W. ‘Wayne’ Carter (Larisa) of Wewoka, Jean Elliott (Clinton), David Carter (Shelley), all of Holdenville, Linda Johnson of Oklahoma City, Terry Kirby (Donna) of Tecumseh, and Cathy Barksdale (Michael) of Shawnee; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
