Lenval Ray Woodruff
Lenval Ray Woodruff, 88, of Calvin, Oklahoma passed away from natural causes on January 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
Lenval was born on July 24, 1933, to Homer and Ida Woodruff in Hanna, Oklahoma. His family moved to Calvin, Oklahoma when he was 7 years old. He met his wife Sue in 1956 and they were married on June 6, 1957. Together they raised three children: Karla Blaylock, Jeff Woodruff, and James ‘Bo’ Woodruff.
During his lifetime he worked in the hay fields of California, ran an autobody shop in Calvin, delivered mail for the USPS for eight8 years, but mostly he worked in the pipeline industry all over the country.
Lenval enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. He liked all kinds of fishing including noodling for big catfish on the South Canadian River. He walked many miles looking for arrowheads. When he could no longer walk well enough to look for arrowheads himself, he would buy them from people who were willing to sell them. The Oklahoma Game and Fish magazine printed an article about him building the first dune buggy in this area to drive on the river near Calvin.
Lenval is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue, of the home; daughter Karla and her husband Kent Blaylock of Calvin, son Jeff and his wife Rhonda Woodruff of Bartlesville, and son James ‘Bo’ and his wife Michelle Woodruff of Seminole; grandchildren Kyle and his wife Felicia Blaylock, Kaleb Blaylock, Nicole Woodruff, Michelle Woodruff, David and his wife Claire Woodruff, Collin Woodruff, Riley and his wife Emma Brown, Rowdy and his wife Caitlyn Brown, and Logan Woodruff; greatgrandchildren Malcolm McCorvey, Camille Hewitt, and Kaydence Brown; sister Barbara Johnson; brother Ronald Woodruff; and many more family and friends.
Lenval is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Ida Woodruff; infant daughter Janet Woodruff; sisters Norma Hanks, Alene Melton, and Carolyn Sue Crawley; brother Roger Woodruff, and infant brother Glendon Woodruff.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 24 th , at 2:00 pm with a lunch for the family at 12:00 pm at the Freewill Baptist Church located at the intersection of Highway 1 and Cedar Street in Calvin, Oklahoma.
