Service Friday for Patricia Barton

Services for Patricia Ann Barton, 84, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 27th, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Rev. Tammy Wooliver will officiate. Burial will follow at Atwood Cemetery.

Ann passed away in Ada on Sunday after a lengthy illness. She was born to A.G. and Carinne Black of Atwood. She graduated from Atwood High School and East Central University with a degree in Education, and was a life-long educator and volunteer.

She worked for Collins Lumber in Ada before starting her teaching career in Riverside, California. She returned to Oklahoma to teach at Mill Creek and Latta schools, later earning a Master’s in Administration and serving as both teacher and principal in Lower Kalskag, Alaska. Returning again to Oklahoma,

she taught Life Skills at the Pontotoc Technology Center in Ada. After retiring from education, Ann joined the Oklahoma Realtors Association and worked for several years as a realtor in Ada.

Ann was a long-time member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ada. She taught church school, was active in St. Margaret’s Guild, assisted with Matthew 25 Food Distribution, served as Hospitality Chair for nearly ten years and was a vestry member. She also served in Rotary.

Survivors include daughter Laura Orabone and husband Kenneth of Richmond, Rhode Island; son John Collins and wife Janelle of Atwood; sister Hilda Wilkerson and husband Jim of Yukon, Oklahoma; and brother Donnie Black and wife Phyllis of Valley View, Texas; as well as three beloved grandchildren Caleb Orabone, Colton Collins, and Emily Collins.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bob L. Barton, of the home.
