Service held for Roy Robertson, Jr
Rev. Roy H. Robertson, Jr., 78, longtime Pastor and Bowlegs, Oklahoma resident, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Roy was born on March 6, 1945 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Roy H. Robertson and Vena Marie (Meek) Robertson. Roy grew up in the Bowlegs and Seminole communities and attended area public schools.
Roy was an Assembly of God pastor for 50 years. He was the pastor of the Bowlegs First Assembly of God for 31 years from September of 1992 until the time of his death on Sunday, December 17, 2023. He had pastored the Allen Assembly of God Church for many years prior to accepting the Bowlegs church.
Roy enjoyed visiting with people in need and was always there to help them. Roy enjoyed writing poems and would always write a poem for any person that he preached their funeral service. He was a kind, loving and giving man, he loved meeting new people and telling them about Jesus. Roy never met a stranger and would soon make them a friend. His family was very important to him and for years they would meet at his home after church on Sunday for a family lunch.
Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Specialist 4 in the artillery division.
Roy married the love of his life Delores Marie (Flanagan) Robertson on August 8, 1964, in Dustin, Oklahoma and she preceded Roy in death on August 29, 2021.
Roy is survived by his daughter Tina Kendrick and her husband Kyle of Seminole; his son Roy H. “Rob” Robertson III; one brother Ronnie Robertson and his wife Cindy of Seminole; two sisters, Colleen Medlock and Anne Robertson both of Seminole, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Jared Robertson, Chris Robertson, Brandon Robertson, Carrie Pierce, Jordan Pierce, Kyla Cross, Kyron Kendrick and Nate Billings; and eleven great grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother David Robertson, and his sister Barbara Joyce Robertson.
Funeral services for Roy were held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 21st, at the Bowlegs First Assembly of God Church on Highway 377 in Bowlegs, Oklahoma, with Rev. Frank Cargill officiating. Cremation services followed the funeral.
Services were under the care of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
