Service held for Shirley Allen

Shirley Ann (Smith) Allen, a Coalgate resident, was born on September 26, 1945, at Sacramento, California. She passed away on December 30, 2023, at Coalgate, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 4 days.

Shirley graduated from Coalgate High School with the Class of 1963. She was a homemaker. Shirley was a member of the Gerty Church. She was an All-State Basketball player. Shirley enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing, and tending to her plants and her garden. She loved taking care of others.

She is survived by sons Ron Alan-Roden and wife Gina of Oklahoma City, and Marty Ray Allen and wife Brandi of Harrah; daughter Misty Kay Dial and husband Dusty of Del City; grandchildren Jackson Roden, Max Roden, Carley Roden, Marissa Allen, Micah Allen, Baylee Allen, Ashley Rodgers, Chase Wilson and Sarah Needham; great- grandchildren Emma Rodgers, William Rodgers, Kalli Wilson, Michael Wilson and Everlee Needham; siblings Billy Jean Blaylock of Calvin, Doug Smith and wife Joy of Coalgate, Tim Rushing and wife Janice of Calvin, and Nancy Traylor and husband Ferlin of Gerty; nieces and nephews Kim Hale of Doughtry, Ronald Blaylock of Calvin, Paul Blaylock of Calvin, and Treasea Blaylock of Calvin; along with many dearly loved friends Preceding her in death were her parents, Clarence and Lovoyce Rushing.

Memorial services were held 2:00 pm Friday, January 5th, in the Brown’s Funeral Chapel, Coalgate. Pastor Kurtis Stoll officiated.
