Rites held or Brent Turpin

Posted in:

Brent Lee Turpin was born on July 20, 1964, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He passed away at his home in Calvin, Oklahoma on Monday, October 21, 2024.

Brent was the son of Paul and Doretta Turpin, brother of Michael Paul Turpin and Kim Turpin Streater, and uncle of Nash Streater and Tyler Streater. He was a brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many Turpins and Condreays. Lack of family was something he never had to worry about.

Brent lived a full life and was able to do things and travel to places he had always talked and dreamed about. He graduated Stuart High School in 1982. During school he was very active in numerous activities. As a member of FFA he was Chapter Secretary and State Congressional Delegate. He was also a member of the Honor Society and the Student Council. He was the Team Manager for the baseball team under Tony Wellington, and was also on the basketball team. As a Senior he was voted Most Dependable, Best Personality, and Class President. He knew he was going to keep reaching for his dreams, so he went to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater for his bachelor’s degree.

Brent had close friends in his high school years and also when he moved to Stillwater and attended OSU. He worked at BancFirst during college, but after graduation started working at Farm Bureau Insurance, where he became certified in all areas and achieved what he had set out to do. As the years went on, he decided he was moving to Chicago to teach in poverty-level schools and try to help and make a difference in the future lives of kids, a decision likely prompted by a compassionate gene passed down by his mother to both her children. In 2017, Brent moved back home and was able to take care of his Mom and Dad and to be there during their last years.

He continued to live at the ranch and was able to get out and help with cows and feeding, and found that peaceful and enjoyable. Brent had been going through several various and serious health issues in the past few years and decided to live out his life without any major surgeries. He was happy reading, spending time with family, and looking forward to pizza night at Aunt Shirley’s every Friday night.

Brent passed away without pain and went on to a happier and healthier life up there with his Mom, Dad, brother Michael, and all the loved ones who have gone before him.

Graveside services were held and Brent was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery at 1:00pm on Friday, October 25th, with Keith Warren officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Brent’s nephews and cousins. Fisher Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma (OK)
