Service held for Virgil ‘Brad’ Lillard

Services for Virgil “Brad” Lillard, 61, of Allen are Thursday, December 19th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; Charles Lillard will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Brad passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at his home. He was born June 28, 1963, in Ada to Hoyt Daniel and Mabel John Carpenter Lillard. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator.

Brad was born into an established family, as his brother and sister were ready to join the world as adults, along with numerous cousins. And, for this reason, he was cherished, adored and spoiled by everyone. In his early years of life, he grew up alongside four nieces and a nephew. Thick as thieves, at times a hero, and at other times an arch nemesis. He grew up with them, wild and free, motorbiking, fishing and hunting.

He was a good friend to so many throughout his life. To his big sister, he wasn’t her only baby, but he was her “first.” Though their mother carried him for nine months, from the moment she saw his little face, he had big sister’s heart, utterly and completely. And, from the age of 17, after the death of both parents, she remained his rock. Simply, she was always “home” to him. Together, they buried their parents, grandparents, brother, and many other loved ones. And, even greater than the sorrow they weathered side by side, they shared family, more good times and laughs than should be allowed in one lifetime, and love…so much love.

Brad leaves behind his sister, Darlene Anglin; nieces and nephew, who all loved and doted on him as much as he allowed when he wasn’t living life on his own terms, in his own way; and many friends and acquaintances.

Survivors include his sister, Darlene Anglin of Ada; nieces and nephew, Renee Nail and husband Keith, Tina Jones and husband Jerry, Brian Sires, Tonya Lillard, and Becky Lillard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tony Michael Lillard; sister-in-law, Jennifer Dell Lillard; and brother-in-law Joe Anglin.

Honorary bearers are Jim Sanders, Keith Nail, Jerry Jones, Justin Nail, Josh Nail and Dakota Blackwell.
