Rites Saturday for Jerry Johnson

Posted in:

A memorial for Jerry Wayne Johnson will be held at the old Non School House on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

Jerry Wayne Johnson, born on November 12, 1944 in Gerty, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was 80 years old.

Jerry lived a life rich in love, service, and passion for his family, faith, and friends. A devoted husband to his wife, Pauline, Jerry shared 60 years of wonderful marriage with her. They had two sons Paul and James Johnson, five grandkids and three greatgrandkids.

As a father, Jerry was a steady presence, always supportive and encouraging. As a grandfather and greatgrandfather, Jerry spent hours playing catch, attending sporting events, and showing up whenever he could to encourage his grandkids.

He was an accomplished baseball player in his younger years, worked as a peanut shaker, English teacher and a coach, a missile plant operator, preacher, and bus driver for Lindale Schools for the past 11 years.

He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and attending southern gospel concerts. He would never pass up a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream and loved playing board games on Friday nights with his family. (He’d say that he won most of them)
