Marie DePasse Passes Away
Woodie Marie (Hudson) DePasse was born on October 12, 1943, to Vera (Stilwell) Hudson and Garrett Lee Hudson in Coalgate, Oklahoma. Marie attended school in Olney and Coalgate graduating from Coalgate in 1961.
She and Arthur Glenn DePasse were married on July 29, 1961. They had 63 years together before her passing on January 2, 2025.
Marie was of the Baptist faith and attended church at Non, Oklahoma. Marie worked at Wrangler for years and helped run Arthur’s dozer service before serving as Coal County Clerk from 1992 to 2004. She enjoyed reading, gardening and researching genealogy. Marie could throw together a meal and feed a houseful, find an underground water source with two clothes hangers, process a deer on her dining room table and make really good sweet tea. Marie was loved by her family and friends. She will be missed.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Glenn DePasse, of the home; children Kathy Taylor and husband Mike of Ada, Oklahoma, Raymond DePasse of Pine, Oklahoma, Earl DePasse and wife Loretta of Parker, Oklahoma and Deborah Romano and husband Jerry of Pine, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett Lee and Vera (Stilwell) Hudson; two sisters and one brother.
Services were held at 10:00 AM Sunday, January 5th, in the Brown’s Funeral Chapel, Coalgate, with Pastor Tommy Chaffin officiating. Interment was in the Pine Cemetery.
Assisting as pallbearers were Shannon Hedgecock, David Graham, Waylon DePasse, Wes Pebworth, Jon Romano, and Hunter Romano. Honorary casket bearers were Dean Tuck, Frank and Mary Sells, Eva Armer, Tony Gibby, Jim Hudson, Steve and Nancy Cody, Harold and Gwenda Depasse, and Sonny “Floyd” Palmer.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Coalgate.
