When I was growing up in Houston, our family lived across the street from a man and woman who had married later in life. Ms. Brill met and married Mr. Roberts after her childbearing years had passed, so the two of them enjoyed a honeymoon that lasted well into retirement. He was a wonderful, doting husband who loved her deeply, and she found great joy in the man of her dreams. Mr. Roberts was not only the light of her life; he provided much of its meaning. Then, a sudden heart attack took him from her. Her grief knew no bounds.

Incumbent Kelly Hurt Seeks Re-Election

by Kelly Hurt Since I’m not originally from Allen, I thought I might share a little of my personal history. As many of you know, I am married to Christina Hurt, our local home baker extraordinaire. We have two children, Kelsey and Christopher. Kelsey is a senior at Allen High School and finishing up her freshman year of college via concurrent enrollment at OU. She plans on going to OU in the fall. Christopher is a freshman and is focused on hunting, all sorts of outdoor adventures and cars. They are the fifth generation of the family to live on our little farm, and Christina’s side of the family has lived here since Allen was named Cold Springs.

Egg Hunt Saturday

The weatherman is promising beautiful weather this Saturday, March 30th, for the Allen Easter Egg Hunt in the city park. The event was cancelled last weekend. The rain in the days leading up to the event had turned the park into a muddy mess making it necessary to postpone.
