Services for Mariel Cross, 89, of Gerty, are 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 21 , at the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Gerty. Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Cross passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at her home. She was born January 10, 1933 in Stuart, Oklahoma to Claude and Edith Dillard Elliott.

On January 15, 2022 at 5:53 am, our angel baby, Addalynn Mae Bakken was born sleeping. She weighed 4 lbs 4.5oz. and was 18” long. She was absolutely perfect, sharing features of both her mommy and daddy.

Twenty-six years after his passing in 1996, Bobbie Milner was awarded an American Flag for the military service of her husband, Phillip Thomas Milner. Phil served with the 45 Division of the National Guard in Korea during the early 1950s. The war raged from 1950 to 1953.

Allen Public School was presented their $17,000 TSET Grant check just before the Christmas break. The money was used to upgrade the playground equipment at the Allen Elementary. “We are very appreciative for the TSET grant that we are using to promote exercise for our students,” said Superintendent Jeff Hiatt.
