AHS Cheer Squad Upcoming Events

Thursday, October 29 , at 7:00 pm there will be a bonfire pep rally in the parking lot of the football field. Everyone is invited! Friday, October 30 , at halftime we will be recognizing alumni cheerleaders. The plan is to recognize them by class, and then have them, along with present squad members perform the fight song dance. If you do not want to perform the fight song dance, please sing the words to the fight song while you are out there. Please let Candice know of any accomplishments or interesting facts about Allen cheer from years past so they may be shared during the half time performance.

Too Many Movies?

The North wind was about as strong as you can imagine on a bright January day, long ago on a hilltop called Highland Cemetery South of Stonewall. My wife’s Uncle Jack had died the week before and he wanted to be buried there in Stonewall. So here we all were. I had never met or seen this uncle before, but I noted he looked very respectable in his casket dressed in a fine cowboy suit.

For four years, my sole responsibility was to prosecute domestic violence cases. I’ve met countless endangered women and children. I have seen the cycle of violence played out time and time again. I’ve watched offenders exercise power and control over their victims and I have seen firsthand the trauma that is caused as a result of domestic violence. I have also witnessed the hope that is found when that cycle is broken.
