Rites held for Ruth Priest

Ruth Elaine Priest, 91, passed away on October 1, 2024, in Greenville, TX. Ruth was born on May 22, 1933 in McLean, Texas, to Dennis and Lucille Smith.

She married Welton Barnes Priest on February 1, 1951 in Amarillo, Texas. Ruth and Welton were married for 56 years until his death in 2007. The couple had 3 children, Cindy Whitaker, Shelly Smith, and Carol Witt. Besides her daughters, Ruth is survived by her brother, James (Buddy) Smith and his wife, Ebbie; 9 grandchildren Travis Whitaker, Zachary Whitaker and wife, Rhoda, Megan Whitaker; Beau Smith, and Tiffany Smith; Shane Witt, and wife, Leslie, Chelsey Witt; and 3 greatgrandchildren - Lincoln Smith, Levi Smith, and Kimber Whitaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Lucille Smith, and sister, Beth White.

Ruth was best known for her unwavering faith, devotion to her family, ability to listen, and compassion for others.

The service for Ruth Priest was held on Saturday, October 5th at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Sunnyvale, Texas under the direction of New Hope Funeral Home.
