Service Friday for June Vinson

Services for Zelma June Vinson, 91, of Allen are 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 21st, at the Allen School Auditorium; Rev. Daniel Johnson and Rev. Jack McNeely will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Allen United Pentecostal Church.
June was born in Allen, Oklahoma on June 1, 1933, to Fred and Esther Cox Royer. She peacefully departed this life surrounded by family on March 16, 2025. Not many people knew her by Zelma, but rather as June, since she was born on the first day of June.
She graduated from Allen High School class of 1951. On February 10, 1954, she married Carl Vinson, and they celebrated many anniversaries until his passing on October 6, 2018.
June worked at City Café in Allen while attending high school. After graduating, she moved to Duncan, Oklahoma and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co for about a year, and then transferred to Holdenville and continued working for the phone company, later moving to Allen where she was a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a stay-at-home mom for a few years, long enough to have three boys, and five girls. In 1975, she was employed by Allen Schools Cafeteria, and later became the manager and oversaw the nutrition program for about ten years until her retirement. She could not stand being retired, so she went to work for the Woodland Hills Nursing Home and prepared meals for residents there for several years.
As a member of the Allen United Pentecostal Church for most of her 91 years of life, she was a genuine witness of the love of God to many people. She did not hesitate to open her heart and her home to friends and family, and sometimes, people that she had just met somewhere that had a need that she could help. Many times, people in the community would call her and ask her to pray for them. Most of the time, she paused everything and prayed for them right then. Her last Wednesday here while in the hospital room, she was praying for her church congregation calling out their names, she prayed for her family calling their names and the presence of the Lord filled the room as she talked to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
June is survived by sons, Phillip and Charlotte Vinson of Cushing, Gary Lynn and Debbie Vinson of Allen, Randy and Brenda Vinson of Tupelo, Mississippi; by daughters Anita and Doug Ellingsworth of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Glenda and Guy Hargrave of Trinity, Texas, Pam and Brad Bennett of Moore, Rhonda and Jay Pachucki of Oklahoma City, and Londa and Ron Litke of Duncan; 25 grandchildren, 60 greatgrandchildren; 9 greatgreat- grandchildren. When you combine these with their spouses it comes to 157 family members.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Allen United Pentecostal Church, P.O. Box 388, Allen, OK 74825.
