Stories from the Allen Class of 2023

by Camdyn Williams The very thought of becoming a high school senior can be daunting. The school year itself is not scary, but what follows after is. After graduation, you either search for higher education or you enter the workforce, becoming a true adult and taking the responsibilities that come with it. To most kids my age, including myself, it feels like time is going way too fast, like an out of control freight train that has no intention of stopping. Honestly it’s all so much to think about, it’s a wonder we haven’t gone crazy. With that in mind, I wondered how to ease the anxieties of growing up, and came up with the idea to speak about our experience as a high school student, so that it doesn’t feel like it’s already over. A few of my classmates and myself have piled together a few of our favorite memories of Allen High School, as well as some personal feelings about becoming a senior, which I’ll be sharing with you here.

Gwendolyn Sue (Stout) Edwards, 82, was born July 14, 1940, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Arthur Irvin Stout and Vera Izyal (McElroy) Stout. Sue passed away on August 13, 2022 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Sue attended high school in Frederick, Oklahoma.

Rites held for Rance Willis

Rance Juhree (“RJ”) Willis, beloved husband and devoted Mason, passed away from the world on August 11, 2022 at the age of 94. He leaves behind the love of his life for 74 years, Alice (Shope) Willis; three children including daughter Jeannie Mullen, daughter Kaydee McKinnis and partner Garland Head, and son Guy Willis and wife Cynthia; five grandchildren, including Wally Watson and wife Karrie, Shawna Tatum, Zach McKinnis, Stephanie Bennett and husband Spencer, Kayla Tweedy and husband Philip; ten great- grandchildren and one great-greatgranddaughter.

Rifle Raffle Benefit

Raffle tickets for a Delton AR15 5.56 caliber rifle will be available starting this Saturday at the Allen Masonic Lodge Breakfast. The lodge will be holding this fundraiser through September 24th when the winning ticket will be drawn. Chances are $5 each or 5 for $20.

The Allen and Calvin Masonic Lodges will be doing a Rib Sale Fundraiser to benefit Morris and Diane Chiles. The Chiles home burnt this past month.

Allen FCA Meeting Wednesday

The Allen Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting Wednesday evening, August 24th. FCA members and their friends are invited to the school cafeteria at 6:00 for a meal before the assembly in the new gym. All students and community members are invited to attend the assembly at 7:00 pm.
